Automating the work nobody should be doing

This page is the whole takeaway. If you only do one thing, do the four steps below. It takes about five minutes and you do not need to know anything technical.

Start here

Four steps. The only thing you type is a copy and paste.

  1. Get the Claude app Download the Claude app

Get it from claude.ai/download, install it, and sign in.

You need the Pro plan, $20 a month. The free plan will not open the part we are using. There is no separate charge for anything on this page.

  2. Open the Code tab and pick a folder

In the app, click Code along the top.

Make a new, empty folder first. Call it assistant and put it on your Desktop. Then choose that folder in the app.

It will ask whether you trust the folder. Say yes. It is your own folder, and nothing here will write anywhere else.

  3. Copy this, and paste it into the box at the bottom

Read https://itkan-rabta.jazarilabs.ai/install.md and follow it exactly. It is written for you, not for me. When you are done, tell me what to type next.

Press Enter and let it work. It takes a minute or two.

  4. Say yes when it asks, then do what it tells you

It will ask your permission once or twice, to fetch this page and to unpack a file into the folder you chose. Say yes to both.

When it finishes it will tell you to start a new chat on the same folder and type /ammar. Do that, and it takes it from there.

You will need about twenty minutes for the conversation that follows, and you can stop it at any point by typing enough. It picks up where you left off next time.

What you just installed

It asks you about your week. Not about computers, about what you actually do.

Then it writes down the things that keep coming back and do not really need you, puts them in order, and builds the first one with you. A week later it checks whether that thing is still worth having, and tells you if it is not.

Everything it writes goes in a folder on your own computer that you can open and read. It does not run in the background, it does not install any software, and it does not send anything on your behalf. To get rid of it, delete the folder.

Before it asks you anything it will tell you where your words go and how to turn off training on them. Read that screen. It is the part most people skip and it is the part that matters if any of your work belongs to patients, clients, students or an employer.

If something went wrong

In the order worth trying.

I typed /ammar and nothing happened

Almost always one of two things.

You are in the same chat. It has to be a new chat, started after the install finished. The + at the top of the list on the left.

You are on a different folder. The new chat has to be open on the same folder you chose in step 2, not on your Desktop or your Documents.

If both of those are right, type /reload-plugins into the box and press Enter, then try again. If that fails, quit the app completely, reopen it, and start a new chat on the folder.

It said it could not download the file

Usually a work laptop blocking the download. Try it on a personal computer, or on your phone's hotspot instead of the office network.

If you would rather do it by hand, open the next section.

Install it by hand instead

You do not need a terminal, an account anywhere, or any software beyond the Claude app.

Both Mac and Windows

Download ammar.zip (80 KB)

Unzip it. You will get a folder called ammar.

Inside the folder you chose in step 2, make a folder called .claude, and inside that one called skills. Move the whole ammar folder into it, so that you end up with exactly this:

assistant/
  .claude/
    skills/
      ammar/
        .claude-plugin/
        skills/
        references/

Then start a new chat on assistant and type /ammar.

A folder whose name starts with a dot is hidden. On a Mac, press Cmd Shift . in Finder to show it. On Windows, tick Hidden items under the View menu.

Get rid of it completely

Delete the folder you chose in step 2. That is all of it. Nothing was installed anywhere else on your computer, and nothing is running in the background.

Going up here after the session. Check back this evening.
